Getting Here | Mt Buller Ski Lodge

Driving to Mt Buller is easy. The scenery on the way is well worth taking your time to see and enjoy. If your travelling during the winter season (June – October), remember to pick up chains along the way. You pay your resort entry (winter only) at Mirimbah where you will be advised of road conditions. Follow the well maintained sealed road up the hill and enjoy the many spectacular alpine views. In winter you will be met at the carparks by an attendant who will show you where to park. The 4WD oversnow vehicles then meet you and take you to where you are staying on the mountain. So easy – no walking, no lugging gear.

The car park is about 45 minutes drive from Mansfield. A parking control operates at Mirimbah, at the foot of the mountain, during the ski season and a gate entry fee, levied by the State Government Alpine National Parks Commission, applies. If you prefer you can leave the car in the valley. Coaches and limousines are available through Mansfield Mt Buller Bus Lines, all co-ordinated through to SkiLib Lodge. This means no chain hire and no mountain driving. Lock-up car parking is available at the pick-up points. Gate entry fees are usually included in the fare. Coach services are available from Mansfield, Merrijig or Mirimbah.

V/Line (Winter Only)

Luxury coach departs Spencer Street Station Melbourne each morning and evening (Mon-Sat) 8:30am and 6pm. Extra service on Friday departs at 4pm. Sunday services depart 10:30am and 1pm. From Mt Buller a daily service departs 12noon Mon-Sat. Extra service on Friday departs at 6:15pm. Sunday service departs at 4:30pm. Bookings telephone 136 196.

Mansfield Mt Buller Bus Line

Mansfield Mt Buller Bus Lines operates a fleet of over 50 vehicles ranging from 12 seat 4WD Troop Carriers to luxury 49 seater Coaches equipped with video, air-conditioning and reclining seats. For details on their summer and winter services see their website.

Helicopters Victoria will fly from Melbourne to Mt Buller and return for $3200 including GST. The helicopter can carry 6 people, so get a group of friends and come skiiing for the day or overnight. Lift tickets for the day are included. You fly from the Melbourne World Trade Centre Heliport or the Tullamarine Airport straight to Mt Buller. This is the most scenic and quickest way to get to Mt Buller with magnificent views of Lake Eildon, the Bluff and Mt Stirling on the way.

A morning flight can have you at Mt Buller that afternoon. Buller is the closest alpine resort to an international airport. From Melbourne airport catch the Mt Buller Ski Express or Snow Limo. Both offer direct express service to your lodge. Mt Buller Ski Express runs from Melbourne city and Tullamarine airport on Wednesday , Friday and Sunday.
